Pennsylvania has reached a crossroads. On one hand we can choose to continue on a path of expanding government control of our daily lives. This path offers security from risks of poor health, unemployment, and other maladies that are part of the human condition. Unfortunately this security is a mirage. When the politician promises a constituent freedom from hunger, cold, lack of employment etc., that promise comes at a cost. A cost that must be borne by someone. Those who bear that cost are often not considered by the politician or the person who receives the largess of the politician. Eventually though, those who pay for the politicians generosity must pay more and more until they have nothing left to give. I believe we are approaching that moment.

We have a wealth of resources at our disposal in Pennsylvania, and none are more important than our citizens.

It would be tragic if we did not do all in our power to maximize the potential of each and every one of those citizens.

On the other hand, we can choose a path of limited government and increased personal liberty. This path allows citizens to pursue their prosperity without having to share an increasing amount with the state. Pennsylvania is populated by industrious and creative people. Left to this industriousness and creativity, rewards from this effort would be incentive to be even more productive. However, if the state decides to confiscate more and more of this productivity, then the incentive to be productive diminishes.
